The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) accused Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy-led Andhra Pradesh government of looting public money, on October 11. TDP leader K Pattabhi Ram claimed, Ministers and workers of the ruling Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) had benefited in the process. He alleged that the education minister Audimulapu Suresh was a beneficiary of the ‘Rythu Bharosa’ welfare scheme. Contending that he did not qualify for the scheme, Ram expressed his bewilderment on the same.

He said, "For the past few months we have been observing that public money is being looted and distributed to YSRCP party workers and leaders by Jagan Mohan Reddy in the name of implementing welfare schemes. In the list of beneficiaries in the 'Rythu Bharosa' scheme is the name of education minister Audimulapu Suresh. This is very surprising! If you look at the guidelines of the scheme it clearly says a person owning more than 5 acres of land is not eligible, a person who is an income tax accesses is not eligible, and a person who had held a public office is not eligible. The Minister qualifies on none of these parameters.”

‘CM must give an explanation’

The TDP leader castigated the state government for distributing public money to the workers and leaders of the YSRCP. He demanded an explanation in this regard from the Andhra Pradesh CM.

"The public money in the name of welfare schemes is being distributed to the YSRCP workers and party leaders. The Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy must give an explanation," Ram opined.
