Trinamool Congress has come out in support of Shiromani Akali Dal, which quit BJP-led NDA government at Centre over three farm bills that were recently passed in Parliament.

In a tweet on Sunday, TMC national spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Derek O' Brien offered party's support to S, which received a positive response from Punjab party's president Sukhbir Singh Bal.

We support Sukhbir Singh Bal and Akali Dal's stand with farmers. Fighting for farmers is part of Trinamool DNA. In 2006, Mamata Banerjee risked her life on a historic 26 day fast for farmers' rights. We oppose #FarmBills2020 as y endanger States' role, MSP, PDS and procurement, O'Brien said on Twitter.

"Derek - your stand against #AgricultureBills in parliament is well kwn. Appreciate your support," Bal said on micro-blogging website in response to TMC leer's tweet.

Shiromani Akali Dal (S) h on Saturday quit National Democratic Alliance (NDA) over farm bills issue. S is third major party to walk out of BJP-led coalition in last couple of years.
