While addressing a rally on Thursday, Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray hit out at Congress stating that his head hangs in shame when he sees the current lot of Congress leaders. He also slammed the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) which is contesting with Congress, stating that both parties have earned income by illegal means and are now threatening to usurp the government. "Congress leaders played an important role in the independence struggle and it was a major component in achieving independence. However, after seeing the current lot of Congress leaders, my head hangs in shame," Thackeray said a public address. 'Congress-NCP earned illegal income'
The Sena leader also slammed the NCP for joining hands with Congress. He said, "For years, Congress and NCP leaders earned a lot of illegal income. Now the Congress and NCP are joining forces and NCP chief Sharad Pawar is threatening to topple the government. In their election manifesto, the Congress and the NCP have promised a blanket farm loan waiver within four months of coming to power, a monthly unemployment allowance of Rs 5,000, free education for students from KG till graduation, insurance for everyone, and reserving 80% jobs for locals. Over the Congress-NCP's promise of farm loan waiver, Thackeray in his attack questioned the opposition asking them why did they not waive farmer's loans when they were in the power for years.
"Your government was in power in the state for years. Why didn't you waive farm loans then? We are going to relieve the farmer of their loans now. I do not know about farming, but the Shiv Sena will be wiping the tears of farmers in the state," he said.
