On birth anniversary of Veer Damodar Savarkar on May 28, Tuesday, BJP chief Amit Shah paid his tribute to Indian independence activist. Shah said that Veer Savarkar as a unique revolutionary who lit lamp of patriotism in hearts of crores of people. He ded that Savarkar opposed appeasing policy in Indian polity. Savarkar was born on this day in 1883 near Nasik in Maharashtra and was popularly called Veer Savarkar.
Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, May 28, BJP president in a series of tweets enlisted contribution of Savarkar towards nation.He said:

"Veer Savarkar fought for nation as well as fought against caste system and also worked to dress gaps prevailing in our langu. This is birth anniversary of legendary patriotic, great freedom fighter, and a visionary."
He ded in ar tweet: "Veer Savarkar was a unique revolutionary who lit lamp of patriotism in hearts of crores of people. He strongly opposed appeasing policy in Indian polity and described it as a major threat to India."

On occasion of Savarkar's birth anniversary, a function to pay floral tributes to him will be held in Central Hall of Parliament House on May 28.

Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi also paid his tribute to Indian independence activist and formulator of Hindutva philosophy. PM said that Veer Savarkar is an epitome of cour, patriotism and is an example of commitment towards India. He also ded that it was Savarkar who inspired many people to devote mselves towards nation building.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh also paid his tribute to freedom fighter Savarkar.
