West Bengal to extend lockdown amid coronavirus till April 30: CM Mamata Banerjee

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced the extension of the coronavirus lockdown in the state till April 30 as the number of cases rise.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has anunced extension of coronavirus lockdown in state till April 30 as number of cases rise and death toll mounts. In her daily press briefing, Mamata Banerjee said, "We had earlier stated that we will wait for Centre's decision and won't have a differing opinion. lockdown will continue till April 30 and furr updates will be provided from time to time."

"Six more cases have been reported; re are 95 active patients as on April 11 in state. We are thinking of allowing bakeries to function but proper protocol should be followed so that violation takes place. Schools in state to remain closed till June 10," CM said.

Don't discrimate on CSR contribution

CM also said that she has raised objection over 'differential treatment' on matter of CSR contributions to PM CARES Fund and state disaster relief fund. "CSR contributions by companies are allowed to PM CARES fund but t to state relief fund. re should be discrimination," Mamata said.

New app to trach suspected cases

Mamata Banerjee informed that state has launched a new smartphone app called 'Sandhani' which will be used for surveillance, tracing and tracking of suspected COVID-19 cases and ir contacts. She also said that sanitisation of localities using disinfectants will be done at a ward level. Drones will also be used to monitor streets to ensure social distancing remains intact.

"I urge all to stay home. Markets will remain open from morning 10 to evening 6. Home delivery of essential goods have already been allowed. However, make sure crowds gar or else strict action will be taken," CM Banerjee furr stated.

total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in West Bengal stands at 126. Five people have so far died of infection while 16 patients have recovered. Punjab joined Odisha on Friday to extend lockdown till 30 April. Maharashtra and Karnataka have anunced a similar move too. Many states are expected to follow suit.
