On July 23, Republic TV broke a world exclusive about one of the biggest scams in the history of Independent India, which the media exposed but has never been solved — the Bofors scandal. 

Over three decades after the scam was covered up, Republic TV's editorial advisor Chitra Subramaniam, who first brought out the Bofors documents in public view, spoke to the person who was heading the National Investigation Department of Sweden, the country where Bofors is based.

Sten Lindstrom, now 71, who has never appeared on a TV interview to an Indian channel, is the chief investigator who knows all about the case. In an interview with Chitra Subramaniam, and subsequently, in an interview with Republic TV's editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami, Sten makes some extraordinary revelations, all of which can be found in the videos below.

Here are the people being spoken of:

Sten Lindstrom : Sten Lindström, the former head of the Swedish police who led the investigations into the Bofors-India howitzer deal. He had in an interview in 2012 disclosed that he was the one who fed the journalistic investigation that was published on the pages of The Hindu in 1988-89

Rajiv Gandhi: The then Prime Minister of India. To this point he has been alleged to have received kickbacks from Bofors AB. He was posthumously cleared from this allegation in 2004 by the Delhi High Court.

Olof Palme: Olof Palme, the Swedish Prime Minister who had initiated the deal but was assassinated just a month before the actual contract was signed. 

Ottavio Quattrocchi: The alleged middle man. Quattrocchi, who passed away in 2013, was the alleged middle man in the Bofors scandal. While alive, he was being sought in India for criminal charges for acting as an alleged conduit for bribes in the scandal.

Martin Ardbo: Former Bofors chief Ardbo was chargesheeted by the CBI, as was the company.
