'Mumbai a Union Territory'? Prakash Ambedkar alleges conspiracy in govt-formation delay

Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi chief Prakash Ambedkar claimed that there was a conspiracy to divide Maharashtra into three parts, making Mumbai a Union Territory.

Vanchit Bahujan Aghi (VBA) chief Prakash Ambedkar on Thursday claimed that re was a conspiracy to divide Maharashtra into three parts. Elaborating on this, he alleged that Mumbai would be me a Union Territory while Vidarbha and rest of Maharashtra would be carved into separate states. Furrmore, Ambedkar stated that se attempts could be defeated only through a people’s movement.

Prakash Ambedkar remarked, “I think that this is a mockery of government that we are w going to form government, we are going to form government on December 1, December 10, re will be a government before new year. This is a drama. reason for this drama is that we have learnt that re is a conspiracy to divide Maharashtra into three parts. Here, re are talks about making Mumbai a Union Territory. re is a talk of Vidarbha being me a separate state and rest of Maharashtra would be converted into a new state. We have put this before people because re are fast developments on this front. If we have to stop it, it can be done only through a people’s movement. That’s why we are telling Congress party- wher you strike with Shiv Sena or t, this has to be revealed first."

struggle for government formation 

Since ne of major political parties could garner eugh numbers for government formation, President's Rule was imposed in Maharashtra on vember 12. Hectic parlays have been going on in NCP, Shiv Sena, and Congress camps to forge a post-poll alliance in state. Sources also indicated that a formula has been worked out whereby Sena would get CM’s post for 5 years. However, all three parties would have ministers proportionate to ir strength in Maharashtra assembly. On Thursday, Prithviraj Chavan of Congress informed media that on Friday, re would be ar meeting of his party, NCP and ir smaller allies in Mumbai. After conclusion of this meeting, discussions would be held with Shiv Sena.
