Priyanka Vadra slams Modi govt as SC backs permanent commission to women officers in Army

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday welcomed the Supreme Court's judgment on permanent commission to women in the Indian Army.

After Supreme Court on Monday prounced its verdict on setting up a permanent commission for women in armed forces, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vra welcomed  Supreme Court's order on permanent commission to all women officers and also took opportunity to hit out at BJP-led central government, accusing it of being anti-women.

Calling Top Court's order 'historic,' Congress leer also took to her official Twitter handle and stated that judgment has given 'new wings' to flight of Indian women.

Priyanka's tweet roughly translates as "  landmark judgment of Supreme Court has given new wings to flight of women of country. Women are capable - in army, in valor, and water, land, sky. This is befitting reply to Modi government, which is opposed to and prejudiced against women's power."

SC's verdict on for women in forces 

SC upheld 2010 Delhi HC judgment to direct that Permanent Commission must be given to all women officers in Army irrespective of ir years of service. apex court stated that this was necessary to tackle ' discrimination' that took place in armed forces.  dressing this, SC bench heed by Justice Chandrachud observed that Centre's argument te for opposing permanent commission and command appointment to women citing physiological features perpetuates " stereos".  

"It is an insult to women as well as army when aspersions are cast on women, ir ability and ir achievements in army," re SC's order.
