Protesting Farmers & Centre to hold Seventh round of talks, amid rainy weather in Delhi

The last round of talks between Government and Farmer Unions was held on December 30. Till now, six such rounds of talks have been held with minimal headway

Government on Monday will hold next round of talks in New Delhi with leers of farmer unions who have been holding protests at different borders of Delhi for more than a month against three agricultural laws. This will be seventh round of talks between two sides.  last round of talks between Government and Farmer Unions was held on December 30. Till w, six such rounds of talks have been held, but  talks failed to end delock as farmers continue to demand repeal of three farm laws passed in month of September.

During sixth round of talks last week, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar h assured farmer leers that government is committed to solving ir problems and both sides need to take steps forward to arrive at an amicable solution. He h also said that consensus on two out of four issues was reached during meeting. consensus was reached on stubble burning and safeguarding power subsidies. However, delock continued over two main demands, legal assurance on Minimum Support Price (MSP) and complete rollback of three farm laws.

farmers have continued ir protest amid waterlogging at agitation venues due to rains since Saturday night. Despite rains and ongoing cold wave across rrn India, farmers agitating against Centre's farm laws stood strong at borders of national capital and continued ir protest for last 39 days. y took refuge in tents amid recent spell of rainfall in capital. y continued ir demand of repealing of three laws and one of m asserted that y will only relent after central government accepts demand of nullifying "black farm laws".

Amid continued agitation against farm laws, several farmers organizations have come out in larger numbers to express ir support to farm laws. Recently, farmers in Meerut organised an outreach program to highlight benefits of three farm laws. Moreover, farmers have also held tractor rally in Gautam Budh Nagar. In December, a crowd of 20,000 farmers from Meerut came out in support of three agrarian laws. Farmers organisations h even met Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar to express ir support to farm laws with certain amendments in place.
