They say heroes are not born, they are made. This is the story of one such hero, Sidhu Humanbade, a delivery executive with Swiggy, who risked his life and jumped in to save patients stranded in a massive fire tragedy in Kamgar hospital, last month.
As India celebrates the 70th Republic Day at Rajpath, Republic TV honored the unsung heroes in a special broadcast titled 'Proud to be Indian' and speaking to us Sidhu opened up about the tragic incident. 'I received a pick-up from the restaurant and was taking the delivery to the customer when the incident took place. While crossing Kamgar hospital, I could see smoke coming from the building, and could hear people screaming' he said.
He further added that his first instinct was to jump in and help the people in need. 'I used a rope in order to climb up and sent two-three people down through that. I helped everyone and then came out in the end' he said.
Humanabade grew up in Airoli in Navi Mumbai and is a Class X graduate. He had moved in with his uncle at Andheri for his job as a delivery executive. As for the food that he was out to deliver, was still found in his bag after the incident.
