Puducherry CM declares schools will remain shut due to incessant rains

Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on Wednesday, October 30, anunced that schools, both government and private will remain closed on Thursday due to heavy rainfall in city. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places over Tamil Nu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Konkan and Goa and South Interior Karnataka for Thursday. Chief Minister took to Twitter to anunce holiday following incessant rainfall.

Educational institutions shut across Tamil Nu
All schools and colleges in six districts across Tamil Nu remained closed on Wednesday owning to heavy rainfall in region. According to state government, schools and colleges in Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, ni, Virudhunagar, Vellore, and Ramanathapuram were shut on Wednesday. All schools in Murai district were also closed following heavy rains in region.
Speaking to media District Collector of Ramanathapuram, Veeraragavarav said, "All education institutes will remain closed in Ramanathapuram district following heavy rains lashing across district."

According to Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Tamil Nu is very likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated places in state. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning very likely at isolated places over Tamil Nu has also been predicted by wear ncy.

Earlier, IMD also predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places over Lakshweep and Puducherry on Wednesday. Heavy Rainfall for Kerala, Karaikal, and Mahe is also predicted. "Heavy Rainfall at isolated places over Coastal Andhra Presh, Yanam, Telangana and Coastal, and South Interior Karnataka," IMD stated in its warning Bulletin.

IMD has also predicted thunderstorms with fast winds over Vidharbha, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nu, Puducherry, Coastal Andhra Presh, and Konkan regions. ncy said sea conditions over west-central and east-central are predicted to be rough over Souast Arabian Sea. Fishermen have been vised t to venture into sea. "Under influence of system over Comorin area and joining Equitorial India Ocean, heavy to very rainfall is likely over Tamil Nu, Kerala, Lakshweep and heavy rainfall over Rayalseema and Karnataka up to October 31," statement ded.
