Pune: A gruesome murder has come to light in Pune after police recovered torso of a unidentified woman from Kharadi area. The incident that was reported on Tuesday has sent shock waves across the city. According to sources, the torso of the woman was recovered along the bank of the Mutha river in the district. The limbs and the head of the woman remain missing.
The torso was first discovered by some workers of Jenny Construction firm, who were involved in a project in the Kharadi area.
According to media reports, the workers informed the police about the woman's torso on the bank of the river. Thy claimed it had no hands and legs. The head was missing too, reports suggested.
Meanwhile, police suspect that the woman was murdered and her body was chopped into pieces. Thereafter, the body parts were dumped into the river in order to destroy the evidence and prevent identification of the body, reports citing police claimed.
Police suspect that that the victim was aged between 18 and 30 years. However, her identity is yet to be established.
Woman's Chopped Up Body Found in MP
A case has been registered against an unknown accused at the Chandannagar police station. Police have launched an investigation into the case. More details are awaited.
In a separate incident reported earlier this month, police recovered dismembered body of an unidentified woman in three bags in Madhya Pradesh's Guna district.
The bags were found behind a ration shop in Khatoli village, news agency PTI , citing Chanchoda Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Divya Rajawat, reported.
"After people in the area alerted police, a team arrived there and opened the bags. An unidentified woman's body parts were packed in them. We believe the murder took place just a few hours before the bags were found. The post mortem report is awaited and CCTV footage of the area is being checked," PTI quoted the official as saying.
