Farmers in Punjab blocked several ros including Amritsar-Delhi national highway and held agitations in different parts of state on Monday to protest farm ordinances promulgated by Centre.

farmers are demanding a roll back of Farmers' Produce Tre and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Ordinance, 2020, Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Ordinance, 2020 and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020.

Members of Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee blocked Amritsar-Delhi national highway at Beas bridge, about 40 km from Amritsar.

y also blocked traffic at Harike heworks in Tarn Taran and Tanda-Hargobindpur bridge in Hoshiarpur.

Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee president Satnam Singh Pannu said farm ordinances would "destroy" farming community and y should be withdrawn.

Farmers under banner of All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee held protests at Patiala, Barnala, Moga, Phagwara and Amritsar.

dressing a garing at Patiala, AIKCC (Punjab chapter) president Darshan Pal said angry farmers took to streets to protest ordinances brought by central government.

Pal said farmers would be left to "mercy" of big corporates if ordinances were passed.

Many farmers' outfits have been holding protests against three farm ordinances promulgated by Centre.

Farmers have expressed apprehension that three ordinances would pave way for dismantling of minimum support price system and y would be at "mercy" of big corporates. y have been demanding a rollback of three ordinances.

Congress-led government in state, which is spearheing a campaign against ordinances, h described se ordinances as a "blatant attack" on federal structure.

On August 28, Punjab Assembly h passed a resolution, rejecting se farm ordinances.

chief minister h earlier said se ordinances are t only against interest of farmers and landless workers and time-tested agriculture marketing system established in state, but are also against Constitution of India.
