Amritsar: On Wednesday, Punjab Police announced the arrest of three individuals following the recovery of five kilograms of heroin and ₹3.95 lakh in cash.

Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav identified the suspects as Gurpreet Singh, Harpreet Singh (alias Happy), and Jota Singh.

DGP Yadav noted that preliminary investigations revealed that Jota Singh and Harpreet Singh were in direct contact with Pakistan -based drug smugglers, who were using drones to transport drugs across the border.

Technical leads developed during the investigation have led to the registration of an FIR, and efforts are underway to trace both backward and forward linkages related to this case.

Commissioner of Police (CP) Amritsar, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, provided details of the operation, stating that police received intelligence about a large consignment of narcotics retrieved from across the border and hidden in a residence in New Ajnala Colony.
