IAS officer Rha Krishna Mathur has been appointed as first Lieutenant Goverr of union territory of Lakh, reorganization of which will take effect from October 31, 2019. Rha Krishna Mathur is a retired 1977 batch Indian ministrative Service (IAS) officer of Tripura cre. 65-year-old bureaucrat retired as Chief Information Commissioner of India (CIC) in vember 2018.

About Rha Krishna Mathur

Rha Krishna Mathur has been Union Defence Secretary, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Secretary of India and has served Tripura government at different posts such as Chief Secretary of Tripura, Principal Secretary of Agriculture, and Principal Secretary of Finance. Mathur has also served as Development Commissioner in Ministry of Textiles and Chief Enforcement Officer in Ministry of Textiles in Central government.

Mathur was appointed as Chief Secretary of Tripura in December 2003. He was appointed as  Union Defence Production Secretary by  Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) in September 2012 and jumped up ranks to be Defence Secretary in May 2013 for a tenure of two years. Mathur was given charge as CIC in 2016 from which he retired in vember 2018.

Mathur will be swearing-in as Lieutenant Goverr of Lakh while Girish Chandra Murmu will be swearing in as Lieutenant Goverr for Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory. two new Lt Goverrs will be replacing Satya Pal Malik, who served as 13th and last Goverr of state of Jammu and Kashmir.  State of Jammu and Kashmir was split into two union territories namely Jammu & Kashmir and Lakh on August 5 this year after Parliament approved Abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35A, followed by Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill 2019. two new union territories - J&K and Lakh will officially come into existence on October 31 after swearing-in of two lieutenant goverrs.
