Wayan MP and Congress leer Rahul Gandhi met Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on October 1, in Delhi, to discuss challenges people in his constituency face due to strict bans and traffic regulations in region. He informed Kerala CM about problems and hardships faced by people of Wayan due to night traffic ban on national highway that passes through Bandipur Tiger Reserve in Karnataka.
Rahul Gandhi and Pinarayi Vijayan's discussion went on for approximately 20 minutes at Kerala House. Post meeting with Chief Minister, Rahul Gandhi dressed media and said he spoke to Kerala Chief Minister about issue of night travel ban and anger among local youngsters for same. Kerala Chief Minister assured him that matter will be taken up with Centre and a solution will be brought soon.

"This is a very important matter and it needs to be tackled. Chief Minister assured us that y are apprised of situation and are trying to resolve it," Rahul Gandhi said.
Along with night traffic ban, Rahul Gandhi also discussed major destruction caused by recent landslides in Wayan due to heavy rainfall and matters relating to compensating people were also discussed.

Pinarayi Vijayan said he will be taking up this issue with Environment Minister Prakash Javekar, and Minister of Ro Transport and Highways Nitin Gkari.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi will be visiting his constituency on October 3, to show solidarity with protestors, Congress sources said.

Night Traffic Ban
movement of traffic through Tiger Reserve has been banned from 9 pm to 6 am to avoid any disturbances caused to wildlife. Union Minister Prakash Javekar h written to Kerala Chief Minister stating that alternate route can be used for vehicular movement from 9 pm to 6 am. Javekar also stated that an alternate route, which passes through forest area, was t a 'Critical Tiger Habitat' and can be suitably mitigated.
