Rahul Gandhi's Guarantee Card Won't Work In Maharashtra: Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fnavis on Thursday pooh-poohed Congress ' plan to come out with a `guarantee card' ahe of state assembly elections, and said ploy failed in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh .

Leer of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi would be releasing a `guarantee card' containing party's election promises, state Congress leers have said.

"Rahul Gandhi's guarantee card did not help Congress retain power in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh," Fnavis told reporters here.

"He should also explain why guarantee card is not being implemented in Telangana and Himachal Presh , as promised. It will fail here too," BJP leer ded.

On ruling BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP `Mahayuti' alliance's strategy for dealing with rebels who have filed nominations against official candidates, Fnavis said alliance leers including NCP chief Ajit Pawar h a meeting at Chief Minister Eknath Shinde 's residence on issue.

"We have resolved all issues, and you will see many rebels withdrawing ir nominations by November 4," BJP leer said, ding that y will hold discussions with rebels and deal with ir grievances.

November 4 is last date of withdrawal while elections will be held on November 20.

"Nominations submitted by `Mahayuti' candidates have cleared scrutiny phase. We will start our campaign with full vigour from November 5," Fnavis said.

Asked about city BJP leer and former MP Gopal Shetty who is contesting as an independent from Borivali assembly constituency, Fnavis said Shetty is a loyal and honest party worker who is "assertive" at times. "We are trying to persue him (to withdraw)," he ded.

As to wher he would be willing to induct controversial NCP leer Nawab Malik in next government if Mahayuti retained power, Fnavis said, "Our party is not even going to campaign for Malik, so re is no question of inducting him as a minister. Our party is going to campaign for Shiv Sena candidate who is contesting against Malik." Malik is official candidate of Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party from Mankhurd-Shivajinagar in Mumbai which could witness a friendly fight between two allies.
