Former Congress president and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi took a dig at the viral video of a Bhartiya Janta Party legislator from Haryana's Assandh, Bakshish Singh, and sarcastically labeled him as the 'most honest man' in the party. Rahul Gandhi shared a video on his official Twitter handle, where, Bakshish Singh was allegedly heard saying that people can press any button and their vote will go to the BJP only.

The Election Commission released a statement on Sunday saying that the electoral body has appointed Vinod Zutshi, former Deputy Election Commissioner ECI, and Secretary Tourism, as Special Observer for the ensuing Elections to Assandh Assembly constituency of Karnal district in Haryana in light of the viral online video.

"Zutshi has been requested to proceed immediately to the Constituency to take necessary corrective action and ensure a free, fair and peaceful election," the Election Commission stated.

Haryana Assembly Elections

Voting across 90 assembly seats of Haryana began at 7 AM on Monday and will continue till 6 PM. The fate of 1,169 candidates will be sealed in Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) by the voters who will exercise their democratic right to vote and choose their representatives. In the state of Haryana, 19,578 polling stations have been set up for citizens to cast their votes. The assembly polls will witness a multi-cornered contest among BJP, Congress, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and the recently formed Jannayak Janata Party (JJP). Along with Haryana, Maharashtra is also voting for its 288 assembly seats. Votes for both the states will be counted on October 24. In the 2014 elections, BJP had won 47 seats and formed the government on its strength while the Congress managed just 15 seats. The INLD finished second with 19 seats.
