Rahul Gandhi: 'There was a time when ECs were impartial, brave'

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi while paying his tribute on the demise of TN Seshan, took a dig at the current Election Commissioners and politicized it.

Congress leer Rahul Gandhi while paying his tribute to Late TN Seshan, took a dig at current Election Commissioners. Taking it to Twitter, Gandhi wrote: "Unlike today, re was a time when our Election Commissioners were impartial, respected, brave and feared." Condoling former CEC's demise,  Congress leer he wrote: 

PM Modi pays tribute

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condoled Seshan's demise and paid rich tributes to  former CEC. Taking to Twitter, PM Modi called Seshan "an outstanding civil servant".

Amit Shah pays tribute

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tribute to demise of former CEC, TN Seshan. Shah called him a 'true torchbearer of democracy.'

About TN Seshan

former CEC, TN Seshan was kwn as someone who ruthlessly enforced Model Code of Conduct and led game-changing electoral reforms in 1990s. Kwn for his "-nsense" attitude, Seshan was credited with ushering in major electoral reforms during his tenure as 10th CEC between December 12, 1990, and December 11, 1996. It was believed that Seshan used to own a big stick while enforcing model code of conduct to reign in muscle and money power during elections. He was born in Thirunellai, Palakk district, Kerala. Seshan h also won kudos and laurels as well including Ramon Magsaysay Award in 1996 for exemplary work in public and government service.
