Raj Assembly passes resolution against CAA, BJP members oppose
Rajasthan Assembly on Saturday passed a resolution urging the Centre to repeal the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), amid opposition by the BJP which accused the ruling Congress of pursuing appeasement politics.

Rajasthan Assembly on Saturday passed a resolution urging Centre to repeal Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), amid opposition by BJP which accused ruling Congress of pursuing appeasement politics.
It is second Congress-ruled state to pass such a resolution after Punjab. Earlier, Kerala Assembly too h passed a resolution against CAA moved jointly by ruling Left alliance and opposition Congress-led UDF.
Rajasthan Assembly passed by voice vote resolution which also asked Centre to withdraw new fields of information that have been sought for updation in National Population Register (NPR), 2020.

"It is evident that CAA violates provisions of Constitution. refore, House resolves to urge upon government of India to repeal CAA to avoid any discrimination on basis of religion in granting citizenship and to ensure equality before law for all religious groups of India," Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shanti Dhariwal said while moving resolution in House.
Leer of Opposition Gulab Chand Kataria questioned right to challenge Act in state assembly.

"Granting citizenship is a matter under Centre and and in such a situation do we have right to challenge CAA.... Congress should stop doing appeasement and vote bank politics," BJP leer said.
