Rajasthan: Former min appeals to Amit Shah to Implement NRC in state

Vasudev Devnani, the MLA from Ajmer wrote to the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah requesting to implement National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Rajasthan.

Vasudev Devnani, MLA from Ajmer and former education minister wrote to Union Home Minister, Amit Shah requesting to implement National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Rajasthan as well. NRC was executed in Assam where 3.11 crore people were included in final list that was published but 19.06 lakh people were excluded. MLA from Ajmer said that sources found many Bangladeshi people residing in Ajmer, Rajasthan which has increased  disruption in law and order of city. This is reason why former education minister has insisted on putting NRC in effect in Rajasthan. Vasudev Devnani wrote to Home Minister that many Bangladeshis come to Ajmer to visit  Dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti and pay ir hom but end up staying back instead of going to Bangladesh.

NRC Final List Out:19.06 Lakh People Excluded in Assam

According to final NRC published in Assam, out of total 3.3 crore applicants, 3.11 crore were included in list. names of about 19 lakh residents were excluded from it. Those who failed to make it to final NRC list have been given 120 days to appeal against ir exclusion at Foreigners Tribunals. If t satisfied with verdict of tribunals, y will have option to move High Court and Supreme Court for redress. BJP leaders have assured people excluded from list that justice will be done and ir appeals will be heard in court.

Legal recourse for people excluded from NRC

Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has informed that a person whose name is t in final NRC list is t automatically designated as a foreigner. Only a Foreigners Tribunal (FT) can declare a person as a ‘foreigner’. Hence, persons excluded from list can file an appeal in FTs. time limit for filing an appeal has been increased from 60 to 120 days. individual can appeal to High Court and Supreme Court if y lose appeal with FT. Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sowal has also clarified that individuals excluded from list will t face harassment from state government due to NRC.
