Rajasthan: Man Attempts Suicide After Killing Wife With Hammer In Jaipur

Jaipur: In a tragic incident in Rajasthan's Jaipur, a man allegedly attempted to commit suicide by consuming poison after killing his wife with a hammer on Sunday. The Jaipur police officials confirmed the incident saying that the man has been hospitalised for treatment, where his condition is stable. The police have registered an FIR in the case under the relevant sections of the BNS and initiated a probe into the murder. 

Assistant Commissioner of Police (South) Sanjay Sharma said that the incident took place in Jaipur's Gayatri Nagar area under the Shipra Path police station limits.

The injured man has been identified as Vishnu Gupta (48), who allegedly killed his wife Sarita Gupta (45) by attacking her with a hammer and later consuming some poisonous chemical with the intention of committing suicide. During the preliminary inquiry, it came to the fore that the man killed his wife after a fight between the two over some domestic issue. 

However, after the incident, Vishnu was rescued and admitted to a hospital for treatment where his condition is said to be stable. 

Based on a complaint lodged by the brother of the deceased, a case has been registered against the accused, the ACP said, adding that the body has been handed over to the woman's family after postmortem. 

Further legal action into the matter is being taken.
