Churu: In a significant crackdown on a fraudulent scheme, Rajasthan Police arrested a woman on Tuesday who allegedly impersonated a Delhi Police officer for three years. The accused, identified as Anju Sharma, is said to have cheated several unemployed individuals by promising them government jobs in exchange for money.

According to Churu Superintendent of Police (SP) Jai Yadav, the police acted on information regarding Sharma's fraudulent activities, stating, “One Anju Sharma has been availing 'VIP' facilities for some time by posing as sub-inspector of Delhi Police and has extorted lakhs of rupees from unemployed youths by promising to get them recruited in government jobs.”

The police team from the Sahwa police station apprehended Sharma in Devgarh, where they discovered a fake ID card of the Delhi Police. Investigators also found photographs and videos on her phone showcasing her in a Delhi Police uniform.

Extensive Fraud Across Multiple States

The investigation revealed that Sharma had reportedly scammed numerous unemployed youths in Delhi, Jaipur, and Haryana under the guise of offering government job placements. One victim, Arjun Lal, filed a report alleging that Sharma duped him of Rs 12.93 lakh by promising him a position as a head constable in the Delhi Police.

The police continue to investigate the extent of Sharma's operations and are urging other potential victims to come forward.
