Rajnath Singh, the Defence Minister of India, notified the people of the biggest threat prevailing in the country right now. Singh called bioterrorism a real-time threat. The Defence Minister called upon the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) of the SCO countries to devise new ways. In lieu of the soldiers facing new challenges in the field, Singh asked for new techniques and methods to combat the threat of bioterrorism.

Rajnath Singh on Bioterrorism 

Bioterrorism is an attack by viruses, bacteria or other germs that can cause death. Speaking at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation's First Military Medicine Conference, he called bioterrorism a 'contagious plague'. Singh added that the army must be well equipped to deal with such a menace. Furthermore, stating that medical services need to be on par to deal with such advanced battlefield technology.

Use of new age battlefield technology 

The advancement of the new age battlefield technology has imposed challenges that were unknown to mankind before. Newer and more complex technology has plagued the world. Rajnath Singh in a statement proclaimed that the threat of nuclear, chemical and biological warfare is real and can occur at any moment. Evolving technologies result in ever-changing casualties that are usually extremely complex in nature.

Rajnath Singh further stated that the SCO is the largest regional organisation in the world in terms of geographical population and coverage. India, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are all members of the SCO. Singh reminded that India has been making a positive contribution to the SCO by actively participating in the Ex peace mission in Russia. Currently, India is participating in Ex Centre 2019 which is happening in Russia, along with other SCO countries.
