Rajnath Singh inaugurates strategic road in Sikkim, lauds BRO for expeditious work
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday inaugurated a 19.85 Km Alternate Alignment of National Highway 310 of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in East Sikkim.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday inaugurated a 19.85 Km Alternate Alignment of National Highway 310 of Border Ros Organisation (BRO) in East Sikkim. ceremony was held through video conference from 33 Corp Hq in Sukhna due to extreme wear condition. While dressing garing on occasion, defence minister complimented BRO for this achievement and said it is upgring to double-lane most border ros in Sikkim.
"Necessitated due to previous alignment having seen extensive dams due to sinking and or natural hazards, ro serves as an important link to bolster defence preparedness in Nathula Sector in particular and in whole of East Sikkim in general," a statement from BRO re.

Atmanirbhar Bharat push
Rajnath Singh emphasised Government’s drive towards progressing infrastructure development in far-flung areas t only to enhance defence preparedness but also for fostering socio-ecomic development of region and reiterated Centre’s resolve to speed up infrastructure development in alignment with Prime Minister’s Act rth-East policy. He also highlighted pace at which construction of alternate alignment took place, which was earlier moving at a slow pace since its commencement in 2009.
defence minister also spoke above various or projects completed by BRO such as Atal Tunnel, DS-DBO ro, new alignment of National Highway 310 which are said to be instrumental from point of strategic security as well as for development of region. According to BRO statement, organisation over last some years has undertaken an unprecedented expansion of its capabilities through techlogy infusion in material, equipment and construction techniques.

Singh also iterated that re are many more projects in pipeline for BRO, expressing confidence that mission of Aatmanirbhar Bharat will progress by leaps and bounds in years ahe. Chief Minister of Sikkim, Prem Singh Tamang was also a part of occasion who opined that new ro will help in boosting tourism and will play a major role in socio-ecomic development of state.
