Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal raises questions of pliant investigation in the wrestlers protests case

 Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal on Sunday said wrestlers staging a protest here demanding arrest of wrestling federation chief over sexual harassment charges are facing predicament of a defiant accused and " arrests", and wondered wher re is a "pliant investigation" into matter. Sibal, a senior vocate, is representing wrestlers in Supreme Court.

In a tweet, he said: "Protesting Wrestlers Predicament: A mir, 6 ors traumatised, a defiant accused, a silent PMO, arrests. A pliant investigation?" Delhi Police filed two FIRs against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on Friday on allegations of sexual harassment levelled against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP by seven women wrestlers.

first information reports (FIRs) were filed hours after Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing Delhi Police, told an apex court bench of Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justice P S Narasimha that a case will be registered on Friday.

While first FIR relates to allegations of a mir wrestler and was registered under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, second was related to outraging modesty of women.
