Chennai: After the Pune Porsche crash case, another high-profile hit and run case involving the daughter of a Rajya Sabha MP came to the light from Chennai where a BMW allegedly ran over a man sleeping on pavement in the city.
Whle the 21-year-old Surya, a painter, succumbed to his injuries, Madhuri, the daughter of YSR Congress Party Rajya Sabha MP Beeda Masthan Rao, was arrested and released on bail by the Chennai Police on Tuesday, reports claimed.
The incident came to fore a month after a super brat allgedly crashed his speeding Porsche car into a motorbike, killing two young IT professions in Pune's Kalyani Nagar on May 19.
Chennna Hit And Run Case: Accused Fled From Spot
The intial probe revealed that the speeding BMW car ran over the sleeping man, causing his death. The woman fled from the spot after the accident, said police officials.
The Adyar Traffic Investigation Wing Police lodged a case under section 304A (Causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) which is a bailable offence.
According to report, while Madhuri fled the spot after the incident, her friend accompanying her argued with people who crowded the crime scene. She also fled the spot after some time. The local residents rushed the victim to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The relatives and friends of the victim, who was married for just eight months, crowded the J-5 Shashtri Nagar Police Station seeking justice and action against accused.
Beeda Mastha Rao has been serving as Rajya Sabha MP since 2022. He also served as an MLA and has been associated with BMR Group, a renowned company in seafood sector.
