Ramesh Pokhriyal inaugurates permanent campus of IIT Ropar

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Thursday inaugurated permanent campus of Indian Institute of Techlogy, Ropar.

dressing event virtually, he congratulated students and researchers of institute for stepping towards converting India to a strong and vibrant nation.

Union minister emphasised that India is a nation enriched with kwledge from ancient times and kwn globally as a country of rich herit and culture, an official release said here.

Terming students as "warriors of nation", he urged m to contribute to country's development.

Pokhriyal highlighted that Indian Institute of Techlogy (IIT) Ropar has featured consistently among top-ranking educational institutions in country and abro.

IIT Ropar has shared top place in India after IISc Bangalore, with its position in 351-400 rank, in Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020, he said.

Talking about National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, minister said, “It (policy) will prove to be base of a self-reliant India and help us achieve goal of Aatma-nirbhar Bharat in true sense.” “With NEP 2020, India will emerge as an education power centre and ministry has been working on several fronts to achieve this goal toger with promoting country's herit to attract students from across world,” he said.

Speaking on occasion, Minister of State for Education Sanjay Dhotre ted, “IITs are recognised worldwide as premier institutes of acemic excellence.” He also appreciated Rs 110 crore grant received by IIT Ropar to set up Techlogy Invation Hub (TIH) in domain of agriculture and water.

permanent campus of institute includes an acemic zone, housing for 2,324 students, 170 faculty and 118 staff members, laboratories, libraries, sports facilities, and for or co-curricular activities.
