Bengaluru: Suspended JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna, accused of sexually assaulting multiple women, was arrested from Bengaluru's Kempegowda Airport shortly after he arrived from Germany in the wee hours of Friday.
Revanna was arrested at the airport by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and was taken to the CID office for interrogation. The SIT team probing the sexual assault case camped out at the airport the entire night, waiting for Revanna's exit after immigration procedures.
Prajwal, who is the NDA candidate from the Hassan Lok Sabha seat, had left the country in April as explicit video clips showing him allegedly sexually abusing multiple women started making the rounds in Karnataka.

- Revanna will be produced in the court for a bail hearing at noon. After the bail hearing and its verdict, he will be taken for medical screening and then to the magistrate for a hearing in the sleaze tape case.
- Upon arrival at the Bengaluru airport, the SIT team probing the case seized two check-in bags belonging to him. He was then taken to the Bengaluru CID office, where tight security arrangements have been made.
- Revanna arrived in India from Berlin, Germany, after a long gap of nearly a month after absconding on a diplomatic passport.
- Earlier this week, he posted a video message, affirming that he would appear on May 31 before the probe team and cooperate with the inquiry. He also claimed that the cases against him were false.
- Rape-accused Revanna claimed that his Germany trip was pre-planned and he didn't leave India with intent to go incommunicado.
- In the video clip, he apologised to his family and the Kannadigas and claimed that the allegations against him were false and that he would be proven innocent.
- Revanna filed an anticipatory bail plea on May 29 which will be heard today before hearing in the sleaze tape case.
- The MEA officials have mentioned that a show cause notice had been issued against Revanna on May 23, and action to revoke his diplomatic passport was initiated.
- A day before his arrival, on Thursday, people in large numbers staged a 'Hassan Chalo' protest which was organised by the Union of Karnataka People's Movement in Hassan district.
- Prajwal Revanna, who is currently seeking another term as MP from Hassan, is facing three cases filed by women, alleging sexual assault and criminal intimidation.
