Ravindra Kharat- a BJP corporator and his family shot dead in Bhusawal
Bhusawal city in Jalgaon, Maharashtra witnessed some gory scenes on Sunday night as local BJP corporator Ravindra Kharat was shot dead along with his family.

Bhusawal city in Jalgaon district of Maharashtra witnessed some gory scenes on Sunday night as local BJP corporator Ravindra Kharat was shot dead by unidentified persons outside his residence. His brother Sunil Kharat, sons Rohit and Prem Sagar and a friend Sumit Fedre were also among those killed. The incident took place at around 9.30 pm when the assailants entered Kharat’s house with a country-made pistol and knife, spraying bullets on him and his family members. Three more individuals including Kharat’s wife are in a critical condition. The Bajarpeth police station is investigating the case.

‘A case of personal dispute’
According to the Superintendent of Police (SP) Panjabrao Ugale, three persons were apprehended merely hours after the attack. He also hinted at the motive of the crime.
“Prima facia it looks like a case of a personal dispute. We have detained three persons in the matter. The accused have also sustained some injuries and are being treated at a hospital. Police are further investigating the matter.”

No criminal record
The Deputy SP of Jalgaon police, Gajanan Rathod, stated two firearms were recovered from the suspects. He also revealed that they did not seem to have any criminal record.

“Five persons have been killed and three were seriously injured. We have arrested three persons who are currently being interrogated. We have some clues about the motive but will be able to give information after further probe. The assailants do not have any known criminal record, that we know of. We have recovered two firearms,” he remarked.

Incidentally, this was the second time Kharat’s house was attacked. On the previous occasion, there was intense stone-pelting directed at his residence. Furthermore, three shots were fired from a country-made pistol, however, he managed to escape unscathed at that time. Taking into account the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections and the gravity of the situation, the police cordon over the entire Bhusawal city has been strengthened.
