Red Alert in Odisha, West Bengal; Heavy Rains Predicted in These Regions, Check Updates
IMD has predicted heavy rains in several parts of the country over the weekend with Red Alert issued in Odisha and West Bengal. Check weather updates here.
New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for Odisha and West Bengal, forecasting extremely heavy rainfall on Saturday. An Orange Alert is in place for Jharkhand , which is expected to experience heavy rainfall on September 14. Meanwhile, Delhi's Regional Weather Department issued a Yellow Alert following severe rainfall on September 13, which led to flooding in the capital.
Yellow Alert in Delhi and Uttarakhand
A depression over the Bay of Bengal has intensified, bringing significant rainfall to Delhi, Haryana , Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh . Delhi has already experienced cloudy skies and moderate rainfall, with heavier rain anticipated as the depression moves westward. Uttarakhand is also on high alert, with a yellow warning issued for Heavy rains.
According to weather department, East Rajasthan , Himachal Pradesh , Uttar Pradesh to witness light to moderate downpour in during the week.
Heavy Rainfall in Maharashtra Predicted
Heavy rainfall is also forecasted for Maharashtra , Gujarat , and Goa . Southern regions like Karnataka, Kerala , and Andhra Pradesh are expected to see light to moderate showers.
Weather Updates for Northeastern Region
Northeastern states, including Assam , Meghalaya , and Arunachal Pradesh , are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall between September 14 and 16. Jharkhand is similarly forecasted to face heavy rainfall on September 14 and 15. Light to moderate rainfall is expected across Nagaland , Manipur , Mizoram , Tripura, and other eastern states.
Light Showers in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh
For central and western India, Madhya Pradesh , Chhattisgarh , and Goa are likely to see widespread moderate rain this week, with isolated heavy rainfall predicted over East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh from September 16-17.
The IMD has also forecast the withdrawal of the monsoon starting from September 17.
