Repeat Offender: Man Arrested For Attempting to Enter Canada on Fake Visas Twice

New Delhi: In a bold act of legal defiance, a 24-year-old man hailing from Gujarat was arrested in an attempt to fly to Canada from Delhi on the same counterfeit visa for which he was previously accused of forging the travel document in 2019. He had already attempted to fly from Mumbai to Canada but failed.  

The accused has been identified as Krupesh Patel (24).

According to officials, the accused was apprehended at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport in Delhi in August on charges of forgery and cheating.

“Patel had approached the immigration authorities seeking departure clearance. He intended to board flight AI 187 and presented a Canadian visa with the number E731696672 to support his request. During the scrutiny of Patel’s travel documents, the authenticity of the Canadian visa was called into question,” stated an FIR lodged with IGI airport police in Delhi.

According to officials, on April 10, 2019, Patel had been refused boarding on a flight to Canada at Mumbai airport, leading to a forgery case being filed with the Mumbai police.

“Despite being out on bail and undergoing an ongoing trial in Mumbai, Patel had the audacity to attempt travel using the same forged visa from IGI Airport in Delhi,” official sources said.

A case has been registered against the accused under the provisions of cheating, forgery and presenting forged documents as genuine under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, in addition to charges under the Passports Act.
