Report Correct Dengue Numbers Or Face Action: Haryana Health Minister Warns Hospitals

Chandigarh: Haryana Health Minister Arti Rao said on Monday said that all government and private hospitals must provide accurate data on dengue cases, or else face action. 

She said her department is taking all steps to prevent an increase in number of dengue cases in state.

“Fogging is being done periodically in affected areas to reduce dengue incidents,” she said.

Haryana Reports Reduction In Dengue Cases, Minister Says Report Correct Numbers 

state has seen a notable decrease in dengue cases across its 22 districts compared to previous year. In 2023, re were 8,081 reported cases of dengue, but this number dropped to 4,634 this year, as minister informed assembly in response to opposition's calling attention motion on issue.

Members of opposition parties, including INLD and Congress, raised concerns about rise in dengue cases and alleged delay in supply of DAP fertilizers to farmers.

In his response, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini assured assembly that re is no shortage of DAP or urea fertilizers in state.

Minister Rao furr clarified that reporting of vector-borne diseases is now mandatory for all hospitals and laboratories across state.

She emphasized that any hospital, wher public or private, found negligent in reporting accurate dengue data will face strict action without delay.

Dengue testing is being offered free of charge, with 27 government laboratories—one in each district—currently operational.

As of November 11, 2024, a total of 1,13,667 dengue tests have been conducted in state. ditionally, 196 wards and 1,022 beds have been reserved for dengue patients in government hospitals, she ded.

Under Haryana Municipal Bye-Laws (Control of Vector-Borne Diseases), 1,03,485 notices were issued till October 15 to owners of premises where mosquito breeding was detected repeatedly.

More than 6,900 localities were covered under fogging repeatedly (743 wards, 466 sectors, 1,870 colonies in urban areas and 2,078 villages and 1,763 localities) till October 15, Rao said.

Department of Urban Local Bodies and Panchayats conducted fogging using 5,606 hand-operated and 43 vehicle-mounted machines, minister said.
