Republic Day 2022: Every year, India celebrates January 26 as Republic Day because it was on this day that the Constitution of India came into effect in 1950.

Republic Day 2022: Every year, India celebrates January 26 as Republic Day because it was on this day that Constitution of India came into effect in 1950 and India became a sovereign nation free from British rule. day is celebrated as a national holiday, and major attraction of Republic Day is pare, which begins at Rajpath in Delhi and ends at India Gate.

This year, nation will be celebrating its 72nd Republic Day. In wake of COVID pandemic, government has me certain changes. This year pares have been shortened and  number of troops in marching contingents in pare has been limited to 96 from 144. government has also imposed or COVID-related measures to curtail spre of COVID-19.

Republic Day History

In year 1950, Indian Constitution became supreme law of country, and Government of India Act of 1935, imposed by British government, was removed. After India gained its freedom from British Monarchy, Constituent Assembly of India was elected to create Constitution of India. Constitution of India was passed and opted on vember 26, 1949, and came into effect on January 26, 1950. Drafting Committee that me Constitution of India was heed by Dr. BR Ambedkar, K.M. Munshi, Muhammed Saullah, N Mhava Rao, and Gopala Swami Ayyangar, and Dr. Rajendra Pras, first President of India, was president of Drafting Committee.

Indian Constitution is one of longest and world's second-largest active constitutions. It lays down procedure, duties, powers, directive principles of government and fundamental rights of Indian citizens. January 26 holds a significant value in Indian history because it gives Indian citizens power to choose ir own government in a democratic way. nation celebrates this day as national holiday for establishment of Indian Constitution. On this day, across all states, various functions are organised by state government and schools, colleges also conduct various events.

Republic Day 2022 Celebration

Like every year, this year too, Republic Day will be celebrated on a grand scale in National Capital. major attraction of celebration is pare held at Rajpath, which displays multi-hued im of country's rich cultural herit and military prowess. President of India, who is also he of Indian Armed Forces, pays tribute to fallen soldiers of country who fought for freedom on different occasions. President of India also gives bravery awards to military personnel, citizens, and children for showing cour in face of versity.  Before beginning of event, Prime Minister of India pays respect to martyrs and lays a wreath at Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate. Prime Minister also dresses nation from Red Fort.
