'Roads Like Hema Malini's Cheeks': AAP MLA's Derogatory Remark Stirs Row

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Swati Maliwal came down heavily on Uttam Nagar MLA Naresh Balyan for making an "anti-women" remark. For the unversed, Balyan had stated in a Facebook live video, “Everything will be fine as we will make Uttam Nagar’s roads like Hema Malini 's cheeks," drawing sharp backlash.
Taking to X, Maliwal shared an edited clip of the MLA’s comment, expressing her disapproval: “Delhi’s Uttam Nagar MLA Naresh Balyan says that ‘we will make the roads like Hema Malini’s cheeks’! No amount of condemnation of this anti-women statement is enough."

She emphasized the dire state of roads in Uttam Nagar, saying, “This man has been sleeping for the entire ten years due to which the roads of Uttam Nagar are in a dilapidated condition! By not working even today, he is only demonstrating his poor thinking."
Maliwal urged AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal to take immediate action against Balyan for his comments, stating, “Such cheap thinking that considers women as objects has no place in society. @ArvindKejriwal ji is appealed to take immediate action against this person with anti-women thinking."

For the unversed, Naresh Balyan has been serving as the MLA for Uttam Nagar in New Delhi since his first election in 2015, having been re-elected in 2020. He has held various roles, including DDC Chairman for South Delhi and a councillor since 2012, and is also a member of the Delhi Jal Board.
