RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat asserted that the Muslims in India are the "happiest" and that people of other faiths have sought refuge in India due to its "Hindu culture." Furthermore, added that India gave "shelter" to Jewish people and that even people from the Parsi community can freely practise their religion in India.
Addressing a meeting of intellectuals here on Saturday, Mohan Bhagwat said, "Muslims in India are the happiest. Why is that? It is because we are Hindus. Whenever a country in the world was confused and diverted from the right path, it came to India in search of the truth. When the Jews were being chased away, India is the only country that gave them shelter. The Parsis are also able to safely practise their religion here."

The RSS chief also said that while a lot changed in India, but the fact that it is a 'Hindu Rashtra' did not change.

This has been the way from the beginning. Such a thing has not come from RSS. Neither did we make Hindus, nor India, this is what we have inherited and what we have been getting from the last thousand years or so. this is a fact of life and that's why we cannot change anything. The situation changed in India a lot but this thing did not change."
