RTC Stir: KCR says, employees are not sacked they opted out of jobs

KCR has said that the govt didn't dismiss any agitating RTC employees as it is self-explanatory that the ones who didn't report for duty opted out of the job.

K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday said Government did t dismiss any agitating employees as it is self-explanatory that those who did t report for duty within deline opted out of ir jobs mselves. An official release issued by chief minister's office reiterated that as far as Government or Telangana State Ro Transport Corporation is concerned, re are only 1,200 employees and rest opted out of ir jobs.  

"In view of Government and RTC, re are only 1200 employees. government has necessity to dismiss remaining employees. Since y have t joined ir duties within deline, it is assumed that y opted for self-dismissal... y all left (jobs) by mselves. y did t respond to requests me by RTC manment or government,"  release quoted Rao as saying.

Protest demanding RTC & Government merger 

Different employees' and workers' unions of TSRTC began an indefinite strike on Friday midnight across Telangana following a call given by Joint Action Committee of corporation, demanding merger of RTC with government and recruitment to various posts, among or things. Indicating its firm stand against strike, state government h earlier said stir was illegal and set 6 pm on October 5 as a deline for agitating employees to report for duty.

‘Don’t disrupt peace’ 

Barring those 1,200 who are recognised as employees of RTC, those who did t meet deline and "opted out" of jobs, should t gar at bus depots and disrupt peace at se depots, release said. "I have ordered DGP to keep special police force at bus depots and take stern action against those who disturb peace," chief minister said.

According to Rao, 10,400 buses are currently with Corporation and in future 50% or 5200, it will be owned by  organisation, while 30% will be taken on hire model and rest 20% allotted to private parties. Rao claimed that people of state were appreciating his action against protesting employees. Earlier, a union leer said tre bodies of Telangana State Ro Transport Corporation will challenge state government's decision to sack about 48,000 agitating employees, as and when y are served with dismissal or suspension tices. Telangana Mazdoor Union president E Ashwathama Reddy, however, clarified that agitating workers have t received any dismissal or suspension tice from government or RTC manment.
