Sachin Tendulkar has hailed Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman as the latter flew the MiG-21 Bison aircraft as part of the Air Force Day parade on October 8. The master blaster stated that he had 'goosebumps' on watching the video that showcased Varthaman leading the parade on Tuesday. Furthermore, he thanked every comrade on the field who is guarding the country day in and out. The IAF celebrated its 87th anniversary at the Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. IAF Chief Air Chief Air Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria and Army Chief General Bipin Rawat were also present at the event.

The Indian Air Force

The IAF was founded on October 8, 1932. It is the air wing of the Indian Armed Forces which has participated in various wars and landmark missions. The Indian Air Force celebrated its 87th anniversary on October 8, 2019, and entailed an air show. The air display commenced with flag-bearing skydivers of the famous Akash Ganga team dropping out of an AN-32 aircraft in their colourful canopies. The IAF so far has been involved in four wars with Pakistan and one with China which includes Operation Vijay, Operation Meghdoot, Operation Cactus and Operation Poomalai. It had also conducted the 2019 Balakot airstrike.
