RG Kar Rape-Murder Case: Sandip Ghosh's Bodyguard and 2 Others Arrested Along With Ex-Principal

Kolkata: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), who is currently investigating the Kolkata Rape and Murder Case, in a major development, has arrested Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. Along with Ghosh, three other people have been arrested in connection with the financial irregularities case which include the ex-principal's bodyguard.

RG Kar Financial Irregularities Case: Who All Have Been Arrested by CBI Till Now?

Apart from the ex-principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital Sandip Ghosh, who has been arrested by the CBI after two weeks of rigorous questioning, raids and two polygraph tests, three others have been arrested.  

These arrests have been made in connection with the financial irregularities at the RG Kar Hospital, that have been exposed during the investigation of the Abhaya Rape and Murder Case.

The three arrested along with Sandip Ghosh are - 

1. Biplav Singha
2. Suman Hazara
3. Afsar Ali

Who is Biplav Singha, Arrested by CBI in RG Kar Case?

Biplav Singha is a 52-year-old vendor and a close aide of Sandip Ghosh who has been arrested in the financial irregularities case; he allegedly supplies medical units to the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

Biplab Singha is also the owner of Maa Tara Traders; the FIR in the matter was also named against Maa Tara Traders. CBI had also conducted searches at his residence.

Who is Suman Hazara, Arrested by CBI in RG Kar Case?

Like Biplav Singha, Suman Hazara is also a vendor who supplies medical units and is a close aide of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital's former principal Sandip Ghosh.

CBI had carried out searches at Suman Hazra’s medical shop in the name of Hazra Medical Shop and also his residence.

Who is Afsar Ali, Arrested by CBI in RG Kar Case?

The fourth arrest is that of Afsar Ali, who is the bodyguard of Sandip Ghosh.

The 44-year-old man is also a close aide of Sandip Ghosh and is allegedly a part of his personal security.

Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Hospital who was at the centre of a storm following the rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor on the hospital premises was arrested by the anti-corruption branch of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday in connection with alleged financial irregularities in the medical establishment during his tenure.
