Attacking the Congress at a press conference on Friday, Sanjay Nirupam stated, "The way in which the candidate finalization has been done in Mumbai, leaving 3-4 seats apart, Congress will not get any seats." Nirupam, who did not get a ticket in the Maharashtra Assembly polls, added that the Congress party, "Without any research or survey and without any ground feedback or grassroots level feedback, decided the names of the candidates based on personal likes and dislikes." Addressing the media, he assured that he will not campaign for the Congress in the Maharashtra polls and said, "Now I will see you only on October 24, the day of the results."

Recalling his recommendation

Recalling his meeting with the Congress general secretary of Maharashtra, Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi, Sanjay Nirupam stated that he had taken four candidates recommendations with him from Versova, Goregaon, Andheri East, and Dindoshi. "I told him that these are the candidates. I have a personal preference for one but others are equally good too. Please consider them."
