Sanskrit to replace urdu on railway signboards in Uttarakhand
Names of railway stations written in Urdu on platform signboards in Uttarakhand will now be written in Sanskrit, the second official language of the hill state

move is in keeping with Railway Manual which says name of a railway station on platform signboards should be written in second official langu of state concerned after Hindi and English, Chief Public Relations Officer, rrn Railway, Deepak Kumar said.

"Inste of Hindi, English and Urdu, names of railway stations on platform signboards across Uttarakhand will w be written in Hindi, English and Sanskrit," he said. "Since Sanskrit is second official langu of Uttarakhand, names of railway stations written in Urdu on platform signboards in state will be replaced with those in Sanskrit," official said.

However, as per rules of Railway Manual appropriate change should have been me on se signboards in 2010 after Sanskrit was me second official langu of state, he said.

Sanskrit was me second official langu of Uttarakhand in 2010 during chief ministership of Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, who is w Union HRD Minister. However, t much will change in spelling of names of railway stations in Uttarakhand when y are written in Sanskrit as both Hindi and Sanskrit use same Devnagri script.
