Erected in a record time of 33 months, world’s tallest statue, Statue of Unity is a structural prodigy established over Narma Dam in Gujarat. This statue of Sardar Patel is set to be inaugurated on his 143rd birth anniversary by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 31, 2018.

'Statue of Unity' stands on base of 58 meters and actual monument is as high as 240 meters. While, now second largest statue of world in China, stands on a 19.3 meters lotus throne, placed on a pedestal of 25 meters and total monument stand high at 153 meters.

"Erected on banks of river Narma in Gujarat, structure is twice height of Statue of Liberty. This is world's tallest sky-scraping statue. Every Indian will now be proud to see world's tallest statue here on Indian soil. Patel, a true son of soil will orn our skies too," said PM Modi.

182-meter-tall Statue of Unity is not only World’s tallest but has been built in a very short time. statue that was built in 33 months is rigid enough to withstand 180 kmph wind speed and is constructed to survive earthquakes measuring up to 6.5 on Richter scale.
This ambitious project cost Rs 2,989 crore, and was constructed by 3,000 workers. To build tallest statue of world, 180,000 cubic meters of concrete, 18,500 tonnes of reinforced steel, 6,500 tons of structured steel and 1,850 tonnes of bronze clding was used.

Prime Minister Modi on his ‘Mann ki Baat’ rio dress on October 28 credited first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for uniting country after partition in 1947.
To commemorate Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary, apart from inaugurating ‘Statue of Unity,’ like every year ‘Run for Unity’ would be flagged off.
“October 31 marks birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabbhai Patel, and like every year, youth of our nation is geared up to ‘Run for Unity’. I appeal each one of you to participate in ‘Run for Unity’ in largest possible numbers,” says PM Modi.
