While addressing the convocation ceremony of the Mata Vaishno Devi University in Katra on October 23, former Jammu-Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik had said humourously that the position of a Governor was “weak” and that he did not hold the “authority” to call a press conference or speak his heart out. Malik also accused the intelligence agencies of not telling the truth to the Centre and the State administration. Adding further, he also spoke about his candid interaction with the students.
The then Governor of Jammu and Kashmir had said, "The position of a Governor is weak. This poor thing does not have the authority to hold press conferences or speak our hearts out. For three days, I remained anxious wondering whether my comments have not annoyed anyone in Delhi.”
