SC accepts Sitaram Yechury's plea, Tarigami to be shifted to AIIMS
The Supreme Court on Thursday directed CPI(M) leader Mohammedd Yusuf Tarigami be shifted to AIIMS in Delhi from Srinagar in response to Sitaram Yechury's plea

The Supreme Court on Thursday has directed that CPI(M) party leader Mohammedd Yusuf Tarigami be shifted to to AIIMS in Delhi from Srinagar.
The Apex court also issued a notice to the Centre on CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury's allegation that his party colleague was illegally detained in Jammu and Kashmir without official orders. SC has asked the Centre to respond within a week in regards to the allegation.

The Apex court said that Yousuf Tarigami needed better treatment. Hence, he needed to be shifted to AIIMS in Delhi.

Sitaram Yechury's Visit
Earlier, the CPI(M) leader had filed a habeas corpus petition in the Supreme Court challenging the detention of party leader Yousuf Tarigmai. On August 28, the SC had permitted Sitaram Yechury to visit Kashmiri politician Tarigami on conditions of no political purpose. Yechury had previously attempted to visit Tarigami twice only to be forced to return from Srinagar airport.

On August 31, the CPI(M) General Secretary Yechury tweeted that he had submitted an affidavit to the Supreme Court of his August 29 meet with the ailing party leader. The affidavit was submitted in a sealed envelope. According to sources, it mentioned details of Tarigami's health condition and stressed the necessity to shift the MLA to AIIMS, Delhi. The affadavit also talked about the situation in Kashmir which is under lock-down after August 5.
