SC commends lawyers for Hindu, Muslim parties for assistance

The Supreme Court 5-member Constitution Bench praised the contribution of senior lawyers appearing for both Hindu and Muslim parties in the Ayodhya case.

Supreme Court Saturday was all praise for 92-year-old former Attorney General and senior vocate K Parasaran, senior vocate C S Vaidyanathan, who led arguments for Hindu parties and senior vocate Rajeev Dhavan for Muslim parties in Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute case. top court said that in crafting 1,045-p verdict forensic contest before Court has provided valuable insight in navigating through layers of complexity of case. A five-judge bench, heed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, said that erudition of counsel, ir industry, vision and above all, dispassionate objectivity in discharging ir role as officers of court must be commended.

"We ackwledge assistance rendered by Mr. K Parasaran and Dr. Rajeev Dhavan, Senior Counsels who led arguments. ir fairness to cause which y espouse and to ir opponents as, indeed, to court during course of hearings has facilitated completion of hearings in spirit that all sides have ultimately been engd in search of truth and justice," top court said.

Bench comments senior lawyers

bench, also comprising Justices S A Bobde, D Y Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and S Abdul Nazeer, commended or senior lawyers as well including S K Jain, Ranjit Kumar, Zafaryab Jilani, Meenakshi Arora, Shekhar Naphe, Vikas Singh and P S Narasimha appearing for various parties for ir assistance. Parasaran, who has also assisted court in ar constitution bench matter on issue of allowing women of all s to Sabarimala temple, was Attorney General of India during tenure of Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi as prime ministers between 1983 and 1989. He was awarded Pma Bhushan in year 2003 and Pma Vibhushan in year 2011.
