SC declines urgent hearing of plea challenging ban on DJ music in UP. Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi called it a noise-making system, righty banned by Allahabad HC.

"It's a ise-making system, rightly banned", Supreme Court said Wednesday while denying an urgent hearing on a plea against Allahabad High Court's order banning disc jockey (DJ) system in Uttar Pradesh. A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi was told by a lawyer that DJ system has been banned in state and plea against it be listed for urgent hearing.

CJI initially construed term DJ, used by lawyer, as District Judge and n consulted Justice S A Bobde, who was also part of bench and remarked: "It is a ise-making system, rightly banned by High Court. early hearing."

plea filed by Sunburn festival

plea has been filed by one 'Sunburn Festival' against High Court's order banning DJ music in state. Under rules, framed in 2000, " permission for DJ shall be granted by authority for reason that ise generated by DJ is unpleasant and obxious level". rule said that even if DJ is being operated at minimum level of sound, it is beyond permissible limits.
