SC directs Centre & Delhi govt to keep differences aside; plan for air purifiers sought
The SC directed the Centre and Delhi government to keep their differences aside and come up with a plan for installing air purifiers in the national capital.

On Monday, Supreme Court directed Centre and Delhi government to keep ir differences aside and come up with a plan for installing air purifiers in national capital within 10 days. This comes after Delhi Chief Secretary stated that re was a “governance problem” in Delhi due to constant tussle between Centre and Delhi government. SC questioned Centre on why people were being forced to live in “gas chambers”. bench termed it as “politically mand pollution”.

'People are laughing at our country'
Contending that Centre and Delhi government were blaming each or for water and air pollution, Justice Arun Mishra opined that people were laughing at India because of this. He observed that political parties were t taking problem of pollution seriously. Moreover, Justice Mishra highlighted rampant corruption in government ncies. Earlier in day, SC pulled up Punjab and Haryana governments for t doing eugh to control pollution. bench issued a warning that officials could face heavy monetary penalties for ir inability to curb stubble burning.
