Ayodhya Verdict: Temple at disputed land; Muslims to get 5 acres land

The Supreme Court on Nov 9 declared the Ayodhya verdict, handing over Ayodhya's disputed land to Hindus and gave 5 acres of alternate land to Muslims.

Supreme Court to deliver verdict on Ayodhya case on November 9

In what comes as a huge announcement, the Supreme Court will deliver its much-awaited verdict in the Ram Janmabhoomi- Babri Masjid land dispute case on Saturday at 10.30 am. A five-judge constitution bench had heard day-to-day arguments in the case in a marathon hearing that lasted 40 days. Apart from Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi who is set to demit office on November 17, 2019, the bench comprises incoming CJI SA Bobde, Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice Abdul Nazeer, and had reserved its order on October 16.

Ayodhya verdict: Security tightened across U.P; Schools-colleges shut

Ahead of the verdict, security in Ayodhya has been beefed up. So far, 18,000 police officers, 3,000 state Rapid Action Force staff and 4,000 Central forces have been deployed in Ayodhya to maintain law and order. Sources suggest that the forces have been directed by the Uttar Pradesh government to ensure that nobody is allowed to spread any communal message, including political and religious leaders within the State.

According to sources, the Chief Secretary DGP himself will be on ground zero to monitor the situation. The District Magistrate will be taking an hourly update directly from the Chief Minister's Office. The affected district and the neighbouring 3 districts will be in a lockdown position. Moreover, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will remain in a 'ready to move' position. Apart from this, 9 helicopters have been arranged for urgent movement basis while 3 separate choppers will be made available for aerial monitoring. Drones will also be used in sensitive areas to monitor any spurious activity.

The Uttar Pradesh Government ahead of the verdict has declared that all schools, colleges, and training centres will be shut from November 9 to November 11.

The spiritual head of Ajmer shrine on Friday night appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony and respect the supreme court verdict on the Ayodhya case.
