Amid the row of several Hindu outfits putting forward their demand that the existing trust should be entrusted with the task of construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Friday has declared that the Hindu outfits' demands are irrelevant as the Supreme Court has instructed the Centre to set up a new trust which will look after the responsibility of constructing the shrine.

'Centre has the authority to take final call'

Secretary-General of VHP Milind Parande is of the opinion that saints and other Hindu outfits have been expressing different views regarding the trust as they had been associated with the Ram Janmabhoomi issue for years but it is the Centre which will take the final call as per the Supreme Court directives.

"The movement for Ram Temple was started by saints. They have been associated with it which is why different views are coming on the trust. However, all these demands are of no use as the Supreme Court has asked the Centre to set up the trust. The central government has to obey the Supreme Court directives," he said.

While terming the views of the saints as "irrelevant" as the final decision lies with the Centre, Parande also said that the saints have the right to express their views as they have been an integral part of the movement. "There is a democracy in the country and all of them are free to express their views. We hope that in the given timeframe, the Centre would set up the trust according to the faith of Hindus and in accordance with the court's order," Palande said.

The Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas and Ramalaya Trust have been demanding that no new trust should be set up as per the Supreme Court orders as the two trusts are enough to handle the construction of the temple.
