New Delhi: Security measures along the India-Nepal border have been heightened in anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's impending visit to Ayodhya, as per reports on Wednesday. Scheduled for December 30, Modi's arrival for the inauguration of the Shri Ram Airport in Ayodhya precedes the grand inauguration of the Ram Temple on January 22.

In light of these events, both state police and the Sashastra Seema Bal, in coordination with intelligence agencies, have escalated vigilance. Deputy Inspector General Akhileshvar Singh of Sashastra Seema Bal in Gorakhpur stated, "To prevent the movement of unwanted elements in the area, the security agencies have been asked to ascertain the identities of people before allowing them to cross over through the border."

Multiple security measures have been implemented, including the deployment of cameras at SSB posts and main roads, the presence of dog squads and a women's platoon, and the installation of metal detectors at key outposts like Sonauli and Thuthibari along the Indo-Nepal border.

Moreover, various security agencies such as the Indo-Nepal Border Police, Local Intelligence Unit (LIU), and other intelligence units have been placed on high alert. Special attention is being paid to religious sites along the border. Additionally, districts like Maharajganj, Siddharthanagar, Shravasti, and Balrampur—bordering Nepal—have escalated security measures with heightened police and SSB presence, as stated by the DIG.
